April 2025
Quote of the Month
“Take pains to refrain from sharp words. Pardon one another so that later on you will not remember the injury. The recollection of an injury is itself wrong. It adds to our anger, nurtures our sins and hates what is good. It is a rusty arrow and poison for the soul. It puts all virtue to flight.”
— Saint Francis of Paola (1416-1507)
President’s Corner
Dear Cabell and Susie,
I hope you are well, and that Lent is a blessed one for you as we look forward to Easter.
Spring is springing, and baby Silas has also sprung. He is our 48th baby! Three more are due this year!
Our two houses are full with seven mothers and 10 children, and so our volunteers are busy as housemothers, mentors and baby sitters. Would you like to join them? Please contact Frances Moyer at 540-450-0775 or [email protected].
Our mothers are busy, also, in school and/or working. We will have our third Laurel Ridge Community College graduate in May. Our Director Christina Müller and Assistant Director Dianne Barkey and our mentors assist them. Phyllis Miller’s Tuesday evening programs inform them on a variety of topics. In our Dress for Success program we provide some funds, and Jennifer Piper takes a mother on a shopping trip. And Sharon Watkins continues to lead a weekly spiritual seminar for our mothers.
Some of our mothers need cars. If you have a car in good working condition, would you consider donating it to a mother? Please let me know by sending an email to [email protected].
If your car is not in good condition, please check out our car donation program HERE.
New Eve Maternity Home has been nominated for a Winchester Star Award. So please vote for us HERE in the Professional Services, Non-Profit Organization category. Voting is only from April 2-8, but you can cast a vote every day!
We always need your prayers and financial support. Our donation page is HERE.
Our mothers know you are helping them and praying for them, and they thank you.
Thank you and God bless you,
Cabell
