October 2025
Quote of the Month
“For the devil may tempt the good, but he cannot find rest in them; for he is shaken violently, and upset, and driven out, now by their prayers, now by their tears of repentance, and now by their almsgiving and similar good works.”
Saint Bruno, founder of the Carthusian Order (born 1030 — died 1101)

Dear Cabell and Susie,
Hard to believe but October is here and the baby bottle campaigns are underway!  Check your Church bulletins for baby bottle campaigns at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Winchester, Saint Bridget of Ireland in Berryville, and Saint John Neuman in Reston.
This lieu of my usual presidential New Eve update, I’d like to share a “House Report” from New Eve’s Director Christina Muller:
In the words of St. Teresa of Calcutta, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”  Our New Eve ministry is fueled by many generous volunteers who contribute numerous small acts that form a beautiful compilation of a great thing.  The day-to-day operation of New Eve requires an army to support our residents and their children and the work is often difficult, but the successes are examples of the fruit of this love.  We are currently supporting five mothers and their eleven children.  Due to this support, all mothers are working or attending school and preparing for a productive future.
Our Tuesday Evening Educational Program is supported by numerous volunteers throughout the year who present on various topics including parenting styles, postpartum expectations, spiritual formation, to name a few.  Our most recent presentation was a talk on identifying and reframing cognitive distortions.  The previous program was a cooking class on how to prepare a week of freezer meals in one evening.

Our Mentoring Program relies on the support of caring individuals who are willing to work on a personal basis with each of our residents.   They visit with the families, take them on outings, guide them with choices for their future, and become the support system that they don’t otherwise have.  We are always looking for these special people who would be willing to share their time and talent with our residents.

Our Babysitting Program is a critical support for each of our educational programs.  These sweet ladies come and watch the many children to provide the opportunity for the mothers to attend these required programs.  The long-term success of these mothers depends on our ability to educate and support their efforts to change the trajectory of their futures.  The small task of babysitting for one hour culminates in a lifetime of positive change for these families.

Deacon Rich Vossler (left) and Fred Riley (right) — representing Green Bay Packaging — are volunteering their time to New Eve by painting garage doors at one of our houses on the United Way Day of Caring

Thank you to our many caring volunteers who give their time to making New Eve Maternity Home a special place for these vulnerable women and their children.  Through your efforts, we are saving the lives of one baby at a time, as well as the future of mama and baby.

You can support our mission in many ways.  If you are in the area and have time to share, please consider volunteering in one of our programs.  Each volunteer position requires as little as an hour of your time or as much time as your schedule would allow.  We also have material needs as we help provide daily necessities for babies and mothers.  Please consider purchasing an item from our Amazon wish list.  And finally, please consider providing a monetary donation to help provide the means for New Eve Maternity Homes to pay the mortgage and keep the lights on.  Please know that your donation is just as important as each of our volunteers, who are the boots on the ground.

God bless you for your efforts and God bless New Eve Maternity Homes.
— Christina

We are currently supporting five mothers and their eleven children.  To help us keep a roof over all these heads, please save the date of April 18, 2026 for our lu’au dinner.  Yes, a lu’au in Winchester!  It will be at the beautiful 6Pastures Farm.  You will be entertained by the dancers and musicians of Melissa Mokihana Scalph’s traditional hula school Hala Ka’ahupuna.  More details will follow.

We are supported entirely by private donations.  You can click HERE to donate.  In fact, New Eve has a small but dedicated group of “Heavenly Host” monthy donors.  Examples of monthly giving levels include:
  • $250 (or more each month) = Seraphim Donor
  • $100 (or more each month) = Cherubim Donor
  • $50 (or more each month) = Archangel Donor
  • $10 (or more each month) = Angel Donor

Recurring donations of ANY size are welcome.  Thanks in advance for your support of our New Eve moms and babies!

You can also donate your used vehicle to help support New Eve.

FYI for New Eve friends who are employed by the US Government (including the US Postal Service, US Military, or US Civilian employees), you can also consider donating to New Eve Maternity Home through the Combined Federal Campaign.  Our CFC # is 16205.  Spread the word!

Thank you and God bless you,

Cabell Angle
President
